Ralph Brunson
USNA ’81
Ralph Brunson is an engineer at Boeing on the C-17 Program in Long Beach, CA. He has worked at Boeing since 1989 and has served for 2 years as the President of Long Beach BEAGLES (Boeing Employee Association of Gays, Lesbians and Friends) - the Boeing LGBT affinity group.
He’s originally from Moorestown, New Jersey and is a 1981 graduate of the Naval Academy. After earning his Naval Flight Officer wings in September 1983, he served as a P-3C Nav/Comm and TACCO in VP-26 out of Brunswick, Maine and then as an NROTC instructor at MIT in Boston before retiring from the Naval Reserves on the west coast in 1998 as a Lieutenant Commander.
After being closeted for so many years in the Navy, he appreciates being "out" while working for a company like Boeing that values diversity. He’s a proud member of USNA Out and will always continue to be honest and real - because it's our personal stories that will make change happen one person at a time. Besides seeing the DADT ban lifted, his interests include: playing piano, working out, running, tennis, and travel.
