Regular Membership in USNA Out is open to anyone who took the oath of office as a Midshipman at the US Naval Academy, provided you are still on active duty or received an honorable discharge from the military.*
*for those individuals who were given other than honorable discharges for reason of homosexuality, and under current policy your discharge would be classified as honorable, then you are not excluded from regular membership as an alumni member.
Although we know, through our personal experience and observation, that the “Don’t ask don’t tell” policy is very dated and is currently hurting military readiness, it is currently the law. Hence, as an active duty service member, you cannot join USNA Out and declare yourself to be a homosexual without violating the policy. However, ALL ALUMNI are welcome to join USNA out, as we have no sexuality or gender identity requirements for membership. We do have members gay and straight.
ACTIVE DUTY PERSONNEL [INCLUDING MIDSHIPMEN] PLEASE NOTE:All alumni of the U. S. Naval Academy are welcome to join USNA Out regardless of sexual identity. However, to preclude possible misunderstandings of status, USNA Out cannot accept an automated request to join USNA Out via this website from alumni currently on active duty.
